SOMALI YOUTH AGAINST IGNORANCE.

The greatest love is the love for one's country.

ARE WE SO IGNORANT?

One of the distinctive thing about United Kingdom is the fact that it’s a multicultural country, the people that live here emigrated from different countries (e.g. China, Germany, Poland, Somalia, Jamaica, India, Egypt etc…) and all have different religions (e.g. Catholic, Christian Orthodox, Protestant, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu and Sikh etc..). And of course they call speak various of Languages. All in the sum population of 60,441,457 all living peacefully.

The population Of the United states is 295,734,134. That’s 295,734,134 people all living peacefully with all different racial groups and religions. The population Canada is  32,270,507  again all living peacefully. There are other countries of course , that have different people all living together peacefully.

Now Our Motherland A.K.A Somalia has the population of 8,591,629. Somalia is One Nation, One religion, One language, but why are we fighting? Why do why kill each other? Are we so ignorant that we can’t except out little differences?. Somalia is in a great suffering. There is famine, war, and all the crimes that go along with them. Who is to blame the former government or the people? Can we stop the blame game and move on?

WILL YOU DREAM WITH ME?

I am just sitting on my computer trying to figure out, why i am here. this new country, different culture and people. i am thousands miles away from my family and land. i believe we all  have these kind of fears that we don't take time to think about it; but instead block it out or rather internalize. To hit the nail on the head, i will go straight to my point, so that you may have an idea of what i am talking about. I am a somali living in London. Am young and i have a lot of things to dream about as it's  for a young growing man/woman although it's rather usual for everybody to have interest that is unique to himself or herself. However, i have this one particular interest that the vast population of somali community, wherever they are in this world, dream with me everyday, but don't usualy take the second step of which is pursuing it. and that is PEACE in our beloved country-SOMALIA.

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much,
because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."

It's not enough to have a dream, Unless you're willing to pursue it. It's not enough to know what's right, Unless you're strong enough to do it. It's not enough to learn the truth, Unless you also learn to live it. It's not enough to reach for love, Unless you care enough to give it Men who are resolved to find a way for themselves will always find opportunities enough; and if they do not find them, they will make them.
--Samuel Smiles

My brothers and sister i would tell you to Stop the mindless wishing that things would be different. Rather than wasting time and emotional and spiritual energy in explaining why we don't have what we want, we can start to pursue other ways to get it. everybody has his/her on view or solution that he thinks will be fit to resolve our problem. but i think we have not taken the time to get together and work it out. putting our differences a side (tribalism, wealth, land, clanism, intraclanism, pride,) and give our children and grandchildren a chance to have peace, identity, origin and life. In order to have a winner, the team must have a feeling of unity; every player must put the team first-ahead of personal glory. so can we join hands as a team?

I am not saying that great stride has not been taken to foster piece but i believe less has been done by the youth. I am young and i am talking to the youth i have a dream and i am ineed of friends to dreams with. That is why i have developed this blog so that i can find my brothers and sisters who will work with me as a team with one dream and love for their country. i believe we can make a difference. You may ask what are we going to do? why don't he come up with a solution? i have my own way of thinking, you have your own way of solving problem and someone else has his/her Unique trick. So before i tell you mine why don't we sit down talk and everybody give his opinion and we come out with a solid solution. that will be a solution to poverty , unnecessary hate, corruption, loss of life, alienation, family disintegration, and so many other major epidemics that is facing us all in one or another way as somali community. I thought about so many times and even discussed with friends , finally i came up with an argument that IGNORANCE is the major challenge that leads to all this other problems. That is my idea so what is yours? if u think so why not contact me and we start the second step after dreaming and that is pursuing.(Abdirachid.fidow@theatm.org).

One of the things that happens when we stop pursuing our dreams is that a little piece of us dies and we become disheartened, if only in that area of our lives. Stepping up and pursuing your dream rekindles that passion and zeal that everyone has the capacity for and lets us experience fulfillment. Having a purpose puts the zip in our step and the zing in our emotions!
